House Speaker Martin Romualdez Promoted to Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary Vice Admiral

House Speaker Martin Romualdez has been promoted to the rank of Auxiliary Vice Admiral in the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

In his acceptance speech on March 6, 2025, Romualdez emphasized the nation's unwavering stance on its territorial rights, particularly in the West Philippine Sea.

Romualdez declared, "Hindi tayo papayag na maging dehado sa sarili nating dagat. Hindi tayo magpapatalo sa sariling teritoryo," underscoring the nation's resolve to protect its maritime domains against external claims. He further remarked, "The West Philippine Sea is not just a political issue; it is a national cause, a matter of survival, dignity, and sovereignty."

In his new role, Romualdez pledged active participation in the PCG's mission to safeguard Philippine waters. He assured, "Isa lang po ang tinitiyak ko sa inyo. Kasama ninyo ako sa laban na ito. Hindi lang sa salita, kundi sa gawa," signaling his readiness to support the PCG not just in words but through concrete actions.

Recognizing the dedication of PCG personnel, Romualdez stated, "Habang may PCG na nagbabantay, hindi kailanman magiging pag-aari ng ibang bansa ang ating karagatan! Your bravery, your discipline, and your unwavering commitment to protecting our maritime territory define the true essence of patriotism."

His promotion and statements come amid ongoing tensions in the West Philippine Sea, reflecting the Philippines' steadfast commitment to asserting its sovereignty and protecting its maritime resources.
