On Wednesday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. attended a brilliant lights and laser performance that lighted the famous San Juanico Bridge that connects the provinces of Samar and Leyte.
The P80 million Spark San Juanico Aesthetic Light and Sound Show is regarded as the nation's first initiative of its type. The program, which started in 2015, was a tourism project designed to promote Samar as a travel destination and foster a favorable image of the province.
Marcos praised the national government and the local government of Samar for working together to improve the 2.164-kilometer bridge as a crucial component of the local road system and a popular tourist destination in his statement at a later event in Sta Rita, Samar.
“It was my father who spearheaded the inauguration of the bridge. So you can all imagine how genuinely delighted I am to be present to witness the lighting as your President,” he said.
