Coco Martin Set to Remake FPJ's 'Batang Quiapo'

The top-rating and longest-running action-drama series FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, which stars Coco Martin, who also serves as the series' creative director and one of its directors, will enter its seventh season in September.

The ongoing support of the audience in the aforementioned series—which recently lost the Movie Queen, Susan Roces, who was also a member of the program for a long time—has prevented it from ending despite repeated rumors to that effect. The late Movie King Fernando Poe, Jr.'s legendary smash film is the inspiration for FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, which he himself directed in 1997 under the alias Ronwaldo Reyes.

Coco's hero when he was a small lad was FPJ. He continued to watch FPJ movies with his grandma at his side. Despite not working with FPJ, Coco had the chance to resurrect his movies like Ang Panday and Ang Probinsyano.

Batang Quiapo, another floating film produced by FPJ that Coco wanted to be in, was helmed by the late Pablo Santiago, the father of brothers Randy, Rowell, and Raymart Santiago, and it was released in 1986. The highest-paid television actor to date is named Coco.
