ABS-search CBN's for a new franchise appears to be ongoing, with top executive Carlo Katigbak purportedly sighted last week visiting President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s Mandaluyong offices.
Joe Barrameda, an Abante writer, claimed to have obtained information concerning Katigbak's attendance at Marcos' office.
ABS-CBN has had a tumultuous relationship with the Marcos family, with dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. ordering the network's closure and the seizure of its assets during the height of Martial Law.
ABS-CBN was refused a franchise renewal in 2020, resulting in the loss of thousands of jobs and requiring the network to seek alternative programming to continue on free television.
In the lack of a franchise, ABS-CBN has formed alliances to transmit some of its programs on competing networks such as TV5 and GMA Network. It also has a time-sharing agreement with Zoe TV, the network owned by Jesus is Lord Church founder Bro. Villanueva, Eddie
“May nagkuwento sa akin na noong isang araw raw ay namataan si Mr. Carlo Katigbak, big boss ng ABS-CBN, sa BBM Headquarters sa Mandaluyong City,” Barrameda said. “Nagtanong ‘yung nakakita kung sino ‘yung dumating. At binanggit daw ng guard na si Carlo Katigbak.”
